PRE-RACE
PREPARATION
- Have your bike is in good working
condition. Bike Tech will be on-site at packet
pickup on Friday and at the transition zone starting
at 6:30 a.m. on race day.
- Make sure you are keeping yourself
well hydrated.
- Pick up your packet and Timing
Chip on Friday, between the hours of 12 Noon and 6 p.m., or on the morning of the race between 6:30
a.m. & 8:30 a.m.
- Make sure all your personal property
is clearly marked with your race bib number.
- Buses are available to transport
you from Cumberland (1.5-miles east of the park)
on race morning.
Note!! There is limited parking available
at the lake. Due to the logistics of the bike course
there is no parking on the sides of the road on
race day. Buses will run continually starting at
6:30am and throughout the day for a return to the
parking lots. There is parking at the lake on Friday
for packet pickup (you can bring and leave your
bike and gear at the lake on Friday).
If you need to bring your bike/gear on race
morning, we recommend that you come to the lake
and drop your gear and then park at Cumberland,
which is just a little over a mile down the road.
Family & friends are welcome to take
the bus at no cost.
- Pin your bib number on a garment/race
belt you will be wearing during the run. The bib
must be placed on the front side of your body and
be clearly visible as you cross the finish line.
- Put the bike number (you will
receive in your packet) on your bike prior to bringing
it into the transition zone as well as your bike
helmet number on your helmet.
- Be sure that you have handlebar
plugs secured. For your own safety, having the ends
of your handlebars plugged is a requirement. You
will receive a time penalty for failing to respect
this rule.
- Check-in at the lake no later
than 8:00 a.m. to get your body marked.
- Fill at least two water bottles
and secure them on your bike.
Note: There will be one water bottle exchange
on the course.
- Take your racing accessories
and check in with the appropriate official at the
transition area. (Only competitors are allowed in
the transition areas).
- Find your pre-assigned bike space.
Arrange your gear properly for transition.
- Prior to the swim start all participants
must have their Timing Chip securely fastened to
their ankle to be worn throughout the duration of
the event. It is appropriate to wear it under
your wet suit (however, be very careful when you
remove your wetsuit after the swim that you do not
remove your Timing Chip - Always check that
your Timing Chip is secure on your ankle before
you start your next race segment.
TEAMS: Each team member
must have their own Timing Chip (teams please remember
to turn in your Chip at your hand-off location within
the transition zone).
- Report to the starting area at
least 15 minutes prior to race start.
- Listen carefully to all pre-race
instructions.
- Once the race has started, be
careful and considerate of volunteers, spectators,
and fellow competitors.
POST
RACE NOTES
- At the completion of your race
turn your Timing Chip in to the finish line officials
(teams: swimmers & cyclists can return their
Timing Chips in to the official at the Team
Tag area). Participants
will be charged $30 for any unreturned Timing Chips.
- If you need medical assistance,
ask a finish line official to lead you to the medical
area.
- Drink the necessary fluids to
maintain body equilibrium. If it is unusually
humid or warm, be sure to drink lots of water.
- To collect your bicycle and racing
gear, go to the transition area with your bib number
on. No one will be allowed in the transition area
unless they are a participant with their race bib
number on. The transition area will be staffed
with security officials.
- The Transition area will close
at 6:00 p.m.
- If you discontinue the race,
please notify an official on the course or at the
finish line and return your Timing Chip to the finish
line.
- In the case of reported race
violations; decisions by the race management are
final and binding.
YOUR
RACE PACKET
Packet
pickup will be held on Friday (day before the race),
from 12 Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Nolte State Park (official
start/finish line). There will also be day of race
registration (unless the event is full) and packet
pickup at Nolte State Park from 6:30 a.m. until 8:30
a.m.
RACE BIB NUMBER
Place your bib number on a piece of clothing that
will be worn during the run portion of the event.
Your bib number must be visible on the front on the
run course and when you come across the finish line.
Once again, this number should be placed on all personal
items that will be used during the event for identification
purposes.
BIKE & HELMET NUMBERS
Each participant will receive a bike and helmet number
that corresponds to his/her assigned race number.
Please place the bike number on your bike prior to
checking it in at the Lake, and place the helmet number
on the front of your helmet prior to the start of
the race.
SWIM CAPS
Swim caps will be provided based on individual wave
starts and must be worn during the swim.

TRANSPORTATION
EQUIPMENT TO THE NOLTE STATE PARK
Security will be at the lake
starting at 12:00 Noon on Friday. All bikes/gear
left overnight will be guarded under lights and by
security personnel. NOTE! Since there is very limited parking
at the lake on race day (other than to drop off your
gear) it is recommended that all participants bring
their bikes on Friday and take the shuttle bus from
Cumberland to the lake the next morning.
BUS TRANSPORTATION TO NOLTE STATE
PARK ON RACE DAY
Buses will be provided to transport
participants from the ATHLETE PARKING AREA LOCATED
IN CUMBERLAND (1-1/2 miles north of Nolte State Park).
The first bus will leave at 6:30 a.m. Friends & family are welcome to ride the buses to the lake. Busses will be available to return athletes
and spectators back to the ATHLETE PARKING AREA throughout
the day.
LOST
AND FOUND
Any equipment that is unmarked will be returned to
the lost and found officials for participants to claim.
Please come to the event with all personal belongings
marked with your name and/or race number.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers, including spouses and other family members
of participants, or athletes that are unable to participate
are welcome and encouraged to help with the race.
We need good volunteers to maintain the quality and
