SOME BASICS:

  • Wetsuits recommended, but optional.

  • Bring a large towel to place your items on at the transition areas.

  • Mark all of your equipment with your bib number to insure all items are returned to you.

  • Remember, we are guests of Nolte State Park and King County.  Please respect the area by not littering or defacing property (which includes not painting words of encouragement on the roads).

  • Remember to pick up your race packet and Timing Chip at Nolte State Park on Friday, September 12th, between 12:00 Noon and 6:00 p.m. or on race day from 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

  • Remember, it will be much easier to pick up your packet on Friday and it will be much less stressful to leave your bicycle and gear on Friday. Your equipment will be well guarded.

  • Guests can purchase dinner tickets at Packet Pickup, or at the door.

  • Bring your family! Have a good time!

M.O.A.Q's (Most Often Asked Questions)

Q. Will the swim be shortened if the water is too cold.

A. No. The swim should be comfortable with a water temperature of approximately 65 degrees.

Q.  Will drafting be allowed?

A.  Absolutely NO DRAFTING!!!

Q.  Is there a Clydesdale/Athena division for the BDT and if so, what are the weights and will you be doing an official weight in?

A.  BDT does have Clydesdale (198lbs) and Athena (150lbs) divisions for age groups 39 & under and 40 & over. We will not be doing an official weigh-in at Packet Pickup.

Q. Will there be wave starts for the Triathlon?

A.  Yes.  See the Pre-Race Briefing for wave start information

Q.  Do I have to wear a full body wetsuit?

A.  No, wetsuits are a personal preference and are optional.

Q. How many participants are you expecting this year?

A. We are planning for a full race - capacity 800 (triathlon & duathlon).

Q.  Do you have the number for camping in the area?

A.  The general # for camping is 1-888-262-7688 or 360-902-8844.

Q. Can my wife pick-up my equipment at the Transition?

A. No. Only participants (wearing their race number) are allowed to pick up equipment.  This is a rule that must be enforced for the security and safety of all participants' property.

Q.  How do I get my bike and other equipment to Nolte State Park?

A.  Participants are responsible for transporting their own equipment to Nolte State Park. The transition zone will be open and secure for checking-in bike gear starting at 12:00 noon on Friday and starting again on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. Hired security will be stationed at the transition zone all night and it will be fenced and under lights.

Q. Are vehicles allowed to park at the Nolte State Park on race day?

A. Parking is limited at Nolte State Park. All participants and spectators will be asked to park in Cumberland, which is located 1-1/2 miles to the north, where busses will bring you to the lake. Participants needing to drop off their bicycle and gear on the day of race may enter the park and stay long enough to drop your gear off. There will be no parking on either side of the road outside the park. Doing so will create a danger to the participants as they will have to swerve out of the wide bike lane and into the traffic lane to avoid the parked cars.

Q.  Are participant support vehicles allowed on the bike or run courses?

A.  No!  For the safety of the participants, unofficial support crews/vehicles are not allowed on the race course.

Q.  Can I bring my bike and equipment to Nolte State Park on race day morning?

A.  Yes - but again we strongly urge you to bring your bike to the park on Friday. If you cannot get your bike to the park on Friday then you may do so on race day morning beginning at 7:00a.m.

Q.  Will there be aid stations on the bike and run courses?

A.  There will be two aid stations on the bike course. We recommend that each athlete bring with them on their bikes two full bottles of fluid. There will be aid at the transition zone as well. There will be aid stations every other mile on the run course.

Q. What food will be provided on the bike and run courses?

A. Participants are responsible for providing their own food supplements on the course. GU, water and AllSport will be provided at the transition zone and on the run course.

Q. Are there any shower facilities at the finish line?

A.  Unfortunately, no.

Q. What time does the duathlon start?

A. The Endurance Duathlon starts after the first couple of triathletes start the bike segment. It will proceed in a time trial fashion with two riders starting approximately every 15 seconds. Duathletes will line up in two parallel lines 6 feet prior to the start mats, first come, first served.

Q. What if I want to switch from being a triathlon participant to a duathlon participant?

A. This will be possible during the packet pick-up on Friday, but this is discouraged on the day of the race.
