ABOUT
THE EVENT
The
Blue Lake Triathlon was started back in 1983 by the
Portland Triathlon Association and a sporting goods
store in downtown Portland that has
since closed it's doors.
Over
the years this event has traditionally been recognized
as the kickoff event
to the triathlon season here in the northwest. With
its warm early season waters and its flat bike and run
courses it is the perfect event to begin the season
with.
This event also serves as the
TRI NorthWest Club/Team Championship. Triathlon Clubs
from across the NW will converge on Blue Lake Park to
compete for the boasting rights as the top club of athletes
in the region. Every effort will be made to announce
the Club/Team winner on race day.
And
for those who do not swim, but want to take part in
the Multi-Sport craze, there is the Olympic Duathlon.
While the Triathletes are swimming you will begin with
a 5K run, then finish your event by competing on the
same bike and run courses as the triathletes.
An
Aqua-Bike will also be held at this year's
Blue Lake Triathlon, which includes the standard Olympic-distance
swim (1.5k) and bike (40k) but does not include a run.
