He was immediately transported to shore where CPR was administered and an AED was used. Despite their efforts, the medical support team was unable to resuscitate Findlay.

We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Findlay's entire family during this time.

NEWS
THE CASCADE LAKES HIGHWAY IS OPEN - as of Thursday June 19, the Cascade Lakes Highway was reopened to traffic from the gates at Elk Lake up to the top of the pass on Mt Bachelor. Equipment difficulties stifled the efforts of the Deschutes County Road Department, but the road is COMPLETELY OPEN and the Pacific Crest Bike Course for the Half Iron Triathlon will proceed as planned. Additionally, the boat ramp at Wickiup Reservoir has been completely repaved and the Sunriver Cutoff (Hwy 45) has been completely resurfaced and sharp corners straightened. The road is smooth as glass and you would be hard pressed to find a nicer road in any national forest to ride on. Special thanks to the local, state and federal government agencies for keeping this course in good shape and for their constant efforts with regard to improvements to their facilities and infrastructure for all to enjoy. See you next weekend!

Water temperature at Wickiup Reservoir was measured on Friday, June 20 at 61 degrees. Central Oregon weather forecast shows warm temperatures in store for the foreseeable future, which will further increase the water temperature for race weekend. Since moving the swim to Wickiup in 2003, the AVERAGE RACE DAY WATER TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN 64 DEGREES OR HIGHER.

AA Sports, Ltd./Pacific Crest Partners with Lance Armstrong Foundation

From Press Release - May 13, 2008 - Cancer will touch you. It will move you to tears. 1.4 million Americans are diagnosed every year. Almost half of all men and one-third of all women will battle some form of cancer during their lifetimes. Cancer will strike you or someone you love. Don’t wait for the strike. Choose to make a difference now. AA Sports, The Lance Armstrong Foundation ("LAF") and Team Risky Business, a Portland based LiveSTRONG Challenge team, have joined forces to provide all Pacific Crest Sports Festival athletes with the opportunity to make a difference.

The LiveSTRONG Challenge is an event that directly benefits the LAF which provides the practical information and tools that people with cancer need to live life on their own terms, unites people to fight cancer and pursue an agenda focused on prevention, access to screening and care, improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors and investment in research. LiveSTRONG Challenge participants can choose to run/walk a 5K, or ride 10, 40, 70 or 100 miles on their bike. Unfortunately, this year, the event is scheduled for June 29th which directly conflicts with the Pacific Crest Sports Festival. In the future, these events will not conflict.

This year, you can compete in the Pacific Crest Sports Festival and raise awareness and show your support for cancer survivors in your community. The Pacific Crest Sports Festival is expected to draw more than 4,000 athletes. If every registered athlete for this event raised only $25, we could raise more than $100,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Become a “fundraising only” team member of Team Risky Business and help them surpass their team goals of 500+ members and $400,000 in donations. As a member of Team Risky Business, you will join energetic, caring teammates in the fight against cancer. You will have access to numerous training rides/runs, you will receive an invitation to the ClubSport sponsored LIVESTRONG Challenge party on Saturday, June 21st, and proudly wear the Team Risky Business jersey, designed by Castelli, on event day.

On, Tuesday, May 13th, LiveSTRONG Day, the LAF has provided 50 free registrations to join Team Risky Business and fundraise for the cause. If you are not one of the first 50 to register you can still take advantage of the ½ off LiveSTRONG Day registration that is available to anyone and everyone who registers on LiveSTRONG Day ($25).

To learn more and/or become a member of Team Risky Business, visit the Team Risky Business website at www.teamriskybusiness.org and click on the "Pacific Crest Participants" Link to submit an email requesting the free registration form.

The program has been featured in many media outlets including People, O Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Running Times, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC & ESPN and has been the recipient of several prestigious national awards including Redbook’s “Strength and Spirit Award,” which recognizes individuals who are building a better future for all of us, the “Woman’s Day Award” which salutes individuals who have used their vision and heart to help fix pressing problems and the “Heroes of Running Award” from Runner’s World.
