SWIM - 1,500 meters
Participants will make one clockwise, diamond shaped loop in crystal clear Wickiup Reservoir, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of green forests and majestic mountains. Each leg of the diamond is approximately 0.23 miles and there are 3 total turns.

MARKING: Three large triangular buoys will mark the turn points. There will also be one 60" diameter orange buoy at the midpoint of each leg. Kayakers, resident penguins, medics and the Deschutes County Sheriff will be positioned on the water to support the swimmers. Medical support will be present on the beach.

WATER TEMPERATURE: Water temperature is expected to be between 62 - 66 degrees. The temperature will be taken on Friday and the morning of the race. Wetsuits are recommended. r.

BIKE - 28mi
A scenic point-to-point course that travels over gently rolling hills. There is only one climb of significance after turning from FS Road 4270 (access road passing Crane Prairie Reservoir) onto FS Hwy 40 (about the 12 mile mark), then its downhill and flat to T-2 (Sunriver Business Park).

ELEVATIONS: The course is relatively flat for the first 12 miles or so. Shortly after turning onto FS Hwy 40 and turning right you will begin a sustained climb of about 3/4 mile. The elevation gain is approximately 400 ft.

HYDRATION TABLES: There are no aid tables on the Olympic bike course. Cyclists are encouraged to have two water bottles on their bikes during the ride. Participants are responsible for carrying their own food supplements on the bike course. DO NOT litter the roadway with food supplement wrappers. Littering is an automatic disqualification as it affects our ability to maintain a permit with the USFS.

MARKING: The bike course will be marked with large pink directional signs at all turns. Volunteers and/or Police will also be present.

RUN - 10K
A mostly flat loop course on widely paved bike paths that traverse through and around this beautiful and scenic destination resort (one hill total with a minimal elevation gain).

MP3 PLAYERS / IPODS / PORTABLE MUSIC DEVICES: Music devices will be allowed for use on the run course portions of all of the Pacific Crest events. This applies only to Pacific Crest, but not to the other multisport events owned by AA Sports, Ltd.

HYDRATION STATIONS: Hydration stations with water and electrolyte will be located approximately every mile, as well as at the bike/run transition and the finish line. Fluids will be kept in cooling containers with ice prior to dispensing. There will be four Porta Potties on the course as well as at T2.

MARKING: The run course will be marked with white lime & pink directional signs (8 1/2" x 11") mounted on 48" wooden stakes. There will also be course marshals and/or Police at all necessary intersections where vehicle traffic may be found. Each mile will be marked with a mileage sign. The Run course will be marked on Thursday (including mile markers). Locations where the 10K course diverges from the Half marathon course (one turn) will not be marked until the conclusion of Saturdays' races to prevent confusion to those running the Saturday races.

COMMUNICATIONS: Every hydration station on the run course will have radio communication with the finish line and the Run Course Managers. If you cannot finish the race for any reason, please notify the closest aid station, or report it to the finish line. If you do not finish, please make sure that you return your Timing Chip to the finish line.

THE START
All participants (triathletes & duathletes) must check in at the north boat ramp at Gull Point (T1) by 8:40 a.m. on race day at the Participant Check-in Tent. Participants should be positioned at the race start by 8:45 a.m. for last minute instructions. The first swim wave will leave at 9:00 a.m. Start times are available on the WAVE CHART - CLICK HERE.

DUATHLETES: will have a time trial start with two riders starting approximately every 15 seconds. Cyclists will form two parallel lines beginning 10 ft prior to the Bike-Start Timing Mats. Order is: first in line, first to depart. All duathletes should be gone prior to the first triathletes exiting the water. If this is not the case, duathletes will allways allow the triathlete to cross the bike start mats first since the clock is already running for them. The clock for the duathlete does not start until they cross the bike start mats to begin their race.

EQUIPMENT/ITEMS AT TRANSITION AREAS & FINISH LINE
All participants are encouraged bring two large towels (one for each transition area) to designate your space at your assigned bike rack within the transition zone. You will receive one large plastic bag at packet pickup with your race number on it. This bag must be used at the swim/bike transition for placing all of your personal items (including wetsuit) for transport back to the bike/run transition. Each participant MUST place all their personal items in their bag by themselves, and then tie the bag. Loose items will be returned to the finish line (not T2) and placed with lost & found. Participants are to bring their run items to the bike/run transition starting at 6:00 a.m. on race day. All personal items must be picked up at the bike-run transition within two hours of your completing the race or no later than 3:00 p.m.

IMPORTANT: All personal items must be marked with your race bib number to assure getting them returned to you. Both transition areas will have security present until all personal items are picked up (please plan to pick your items up within two hours of your finishing the race or by 3:00 p.m.). For the safety of your equipment, only participants will be allowed to pick up their equipment by displaying their race number and wristband.

SWIM/BIKE TRANSITION (T1)
A hydration station with water and electrolyte will be positioned within the transition zone. Swimmers will exit the water and cross the timing mats on their way up the concrete boat ramp to the transition area. Participants must place all of their belongings into the plastic bag marked with their race number and tie it prior to exiting the transition area to begin the bike ride. Race Officials will not be responsible for any unmarked, non-bagged items left at the transition zone. Your bag containing your personal items will be transported back to the Athlete Village for pick up after completing the race. Participants must walk or run their bike out of the transition area and across the Timing Mats to the "Bike Mount" sign before beginning their ride. Also, helmets must be worn and securely fastened prior to mounting your bike.

TEAMS: Must make a conversion by touching fingertips at the designated "team tag" location within the transition area. The finishing team swimmer (provided they are doing the swim only) must turn in their Timing Chip at this same "team tag" location.

BUSES: PLEASE READ - You MUST pre-purchase your bus pass when pre-registering for the race. Cost of the pass is $10.00 each (participant or guest). You will also need to provide your choice of departure time which begins at 6:30 am and ends at 8:00 am. Busses depart every 15 minutes. Due to the number of busses available, time assignments will be on a first come first serve basis using the departure time you provided.

BIKE/RUN TRANSITION (T2)
Located at: Three Rivers Elementary School (on the soccer field) at the Sunriver Business Park. A hydration station with water & electrolyte will be available. Porta Potties will be available as well. Participants should have pre-positioned their run equipment at the transition area prior to leaving for the lake and the start of the race. Cyclists must dismount their bike on the road at the "Bike Dismount" sign which is located just prior to Timing Mats. You will then run your bike into the transition zone. Participants must place all of their belongings on their towel at their designated bike rack location. This will help insure that the athletes on either side of you do not mistakenly pick up your belongings with theirs. After making the transition, runners will exit the transition area running over another set of Timing Mats and follow the markings taking them directly to the Sunriver bike path for the 10K run.

TEAMS: The cyclist must make the conversion by touching the fingertips of their teammate at the designated "team tag" location within the transition area, then rack their bike. The finishing team cyclist (provided they are not going to be doing the run) must turn in their Timing Chip at this same "team tag" location. Team runners must check in at the designated tent at the bike/run transition prior to starting their leg of the race. All personal equipment from the lake will be available for pickup at the conclusion of your race in a designated secured area in the Athlete Village. You must show your wrist band and bib # to the race official in order to pick up your bag.
